At the time of writing Barcelona is once again kings of Europe.
They lifted the big-eared-trophy days ago.
It was a magical night, watching Barca taught the whole world 'how to football' in Wembley.
They were swift and furious especially after the 2nd half whistle.
Every single football minded human being in this world would have to do standing ovation for their show that night.
But i heard someone said...
"Barca is all about individual football"
And i was like "Hell-low???"
What kind of football are you talking about?
I'm not a Barca fan but still, that kind of performance is a teamwork, flow of football and top notch understanding among the players.
Look at how they pass the ball around, leaving Giggs and Carrick amazed and puzzled.

a few days before aidilfitri...
i brought her layer cakes..
terubuk and clothes..
that cheered her up..
but more than that, she was happy because its near to aidilfitri...
its time for all to gather.. meet family members..
forgive and been forgiven..
but this year is different.. this boy got something to ask from her..
that maghrib.. we break fast..
so specially.. but i got to be gone a bit early..
to see my cousin in ward..
she reminded me to come to her house on 3rd syawal..

a few days after..
i went to her house again.. she was cheerful..
as usual.. her bro in law came out with many jokes..
and those jokes became the laughing stock in the middle of the house..

3rd syawal, a day before i head back to kuching..
me and my family paid a visit..
it was so special for me..
for her too.. for everyone in both families..
after a great lunch.. her nice lauk pauk and food..
my mom and her discussed future..
near future..
they agreed on a few things.. i felt blessed..
and thats what this boy asked for.. blessing..
at least i walk out of the house..
with a smile upon my face..

today.. its different..
an early Saturday for me..
i wanted to go to an aidilfitri open house..
i turned back home realizing i left my wallet..
on my way back out from the village..
buttercup called.. it was a shocking news..
i hit the break, parked my car by the roadside..
talked thru the phone.. while crying..
made a call.. while crying..
drove my car..while crying..

a three men trip to bau

on 28 august 2010, ustad lan, am and i were in kuching..

spending our bachelor time together huhu

woke up at 4 a.m. catch our sahur meal at mcd padungan

and then back to hotel and took a nap..

then at around 10 went around town for a mission..

kuching was packed with vehicles

as this is the first weekend after payday..

everyone was wandering around as if they got so many things to buy

and as if tomorrow is 1st of syawal

we reached waterfront after battling in jamm

bought some books and clothes at fabriko for buttercup

then battling in jamm once again..

but lost the battle and decided to go to sarikin

sarikin is about 20km from bau..

and bau is about 1hour+ drive from kuching

sarikin is actually a village in the mlysia-indon border

ustad lan compared it to rntau pnjang in klantan

and i see it more like wang klian in perlis

yeah, above is sarikin...

this place offers varieties of crafts products, telekong, herbs

curtains, islamic crafts, kopiahs, sarongs and jersey..

but dont dont dont buy jersey from here.. thai's are better

shall i compare thai's jersey to al-ikhsan's? haa kain sama..

these products + bapak2 ibu2 penjual are indons

keywords : bisa, gampang, gratis

and after 2km of shopping spree..

we decided to go to bau town

this is bau.. once a gold mining town..

the streets of bau,

the rows of shophouses,

the ill maintained recreational areas

smell more or less like keroh in hulu perak

small, peace and harmony

this is the dewan suarah of bau..

the round shaped part resembles bidayuhs' bachelors house

this symbolizes bau as another predominant bidayuhs' area

apart from lundu and serian

these statues depict the gold mining community in bau

once a major economic force in bau

but know, there is a reduction in the commodity

and bau now is paying the price for its glorious days

and CM who visited bau a few days earlier

said that the government will turn bau into a tourism town

masjid darul iman near kg melayu in bau

unique in pattern and design

small but conducive

and holds one of the cleanest ablution + toilet

areas in sarawak.. for real.. kudos to the khariah

back to our journey..

we then moved to bt kawah and had our sungkei

at MJC's bombay masala

praba came along and had some chitchat wit us..

then, we head back to kuching to.. satok

yeah, datang berami-rami

nang rami lah sia..

packed with youngsters and elders..

and satok is merrier than usual..

many raya based items are here to spend cash on

kopiah songkok, bj mlayu, bj kbaya,

kain tudung, kek lapis, kueh raya,

butang baju, paul smith celup, levi's celup,

nike celup, ralph lauren celup..

banyk la..

fuhh what a day..

and the next day.. back to betong

and the next week.. back to penang ;p

After struggling for 5 days in coma,
on 6th August she peacefully made her way back to Allah SWT..

Mayday 2010

celebrated my first mayday as a full time worker..

there were some interesting things taken place in bungin during ramadhan..

peringkat skolah..
all the teachers brought their home cook meals
such as bubur pedas, sapi masak itam, tong yam, ayam percik..
we the bujang senang brought our own either huhu

this is it - ayam pansuh
not lemang, leave alone meriam buluh..
pansuh is iban style of cooking using bamboo..
simple but need special attention

ikan bakaq - a few weeks back
we had ikan kembong n tenggiri bakaq..
sedap la jugak..

we go heart hunting - amik jantung pisang
from abg follend's orchard..
ucop dengan gaya pahlawan rentap..

buah apong - in northern malaya they called it buah nau
my first time and failed to find the right one..
thank god we had fizul a local boy to help us..
that night, we had a jug of buah apong..

farewell - to two KPLIs

they were like superstars of the last day b4 raya at sk bungin

Ucop went out with friends..

and i left alone in IPTAR

time for adventure perhaps?

yeah, i went out at 1400 to kuching.. alone

i ride on a borrowed motorbike..

so i called this day as 'testing my visual spatial' day1

i used my prior knowledge of kota samarahan and kuching as my only guide..

the route is simple until i entered a roundabout.. two ways to kuching

batu7/kuching or tabuan jaya/kuching?

so i choose batu 7.. batu 7 brought me to kota sentosa

and the sign boards here are really reliable and helpful..

so i managed to enter kuching.. safely

then i went to indian street, look for kurma

yeah buah kurma tu

bukan kari kurma tu..

then i ride around kuching..

i ride to the places i've been before with my collegues..

and now i git the idea how the roads in kuching are..

then i look for telang usan hotel, chillipeppers, satok, grand malay restaurant and many others

at 1847 bukak posa at waterfront.. watch mv equatorial sailing really reminded me of thee

then p smyg kat masjd jamek..

then balik IPTAR

good day.. managed to understand more about kuching

still on a borrowed horse..

this is 'testing my visual spatial' day2

ucop went out with friends.. am of SK Supa is coming back

so i took the chance to fetch him from airport..

huhu boleh try jalan lain..

i took some tips from ucop.. then ride on

coming to the same roundabout, this time i took tabuan jaya/kuching

this leads me to taman bdc and from there airport is so easy..

then went back to IPTAR and took a nap huhu

at 1630 me and am went to kuching for bukak posa..

padahal ada ja kdai dekat2..

it was raining on the way there.. and we had to stop for shelter

a few minutes gone, then ride on..

to sugarbun satok branch huhu

i had my second sugarbun with smoked beef cheeseburger and nasi lemak

then during night, i watch football..

waiting for bukak posa.. and thank god, we invented laptop and internet..

rite now i'm dreaming of food, of coz la dah posa kan..

Hit back to bungin at 0500 via a van and reached at 0930 and found the day was damn boring..
school break + fasting month.. no more kids playing in school..
no terrible sound.. damn boring..
the transborneo has been terminated..
went to betong at 1340 and found out another silence place..
at night had some chit chat with abg follends on daggers, keris, parang ilang and sarawak's badik.. maybe i'll have a few of my own next time..
i made up my mind..
i should go back to kuching..

a visit to iban's murat longhouse..
we reached skrang river and had some chit chat with the locals there..
went to sri aman for the 1st time..
there's a woterfront facing batang lupar where we can view benak (ombak kat sungai)
went to serian district mosque.. in shape of bidayuh's rumah bujang..
then bukak posa at sugar bun tabuan branch..
teraweh at IPTAR's mosque.. teraweh-tazkirah-teraweh..
reminded me of permatang pauh's masjid batu teraweh style..

this was my second time in kuching..
big city, big history..
my first time was with my fellow moral colleagues back in may 2009..
i wandered around the city in bus and didnt get much details about the streets..
this time round i wandered with khairul.. infantry..

khairul - walk on the streets he used to roam..
i followed around the main bazaar, indian streets, water front..
these places are nice i got things more detail this time,
compare to the bus ride 3 months back..

indian mosque - in the middle of main bazaar..
i found this mosque quite similar to small mosques around georgetown..
maybe for its indian influences..

the hotel - i stayed in IPTAR
in fact i blog from there..
new place, big and a bit hot..
practicum teachers from around sarawak assembled here for the holidays..

1st of ramadhan - i went to bombay masala with kana and praba..
shared some stories and experiences..
nice to meet them and compare our situations
everyone of us got our own plans and aims..
for the betterment, for the future..

but of coz when u talk about curry, nothing beats penang's finest nasi kandax

first week in sarawak

i went to sarawak on the 3rd of august..

i was posted to sk bungin in betong..

the contigent reached kuching at 1325 that day..

travellers guide 101 - look at the map huhu

but from the map it seems like betong is not that far from kuching..

but then, it was a 4 hours journey that i have to go through..

i travelled with muzammil to betong on ppd's land cruiser

and along they way, we had some chit chat with the driver..

he was a bus driver and he shared many experiences with us..

we stopped at serian for some foods and drinks..

guess what, its a mamak restaurant.. huhu

we proceeded to betong and along the way there are chapels and churchs on our sides..

this reminded me of the route that i took, from medan to danau toba..

the only thing that missing is graveyards in front of batak houses in danau toba.

the road that we took is the only way to travel to betong, even to miri.

i reached ppd betong at 1845 that day.. the small town is calm as the night took over..

guess what.. there's also a mamak restaurant here.. huhu

i reached sk bungin at 1915 and ustad zul welcomed me to his house..

sk bungin - wooden school, wooden pathways

this school was established since 1947, and in 1968 it was moved to present location.

there are 20 teachers here and i am the 2nd english option teacher here..

there are around 200 students studied here..

and since kampung bungin is a malay village, most of the students are malays.

there are 6 classes in this school, which means 1 class for each standards.

the students are okay but very active and a bit naughty..

as a new teacher, they tried to test me and my level of patience..

my mood for classroom is still low..

why? many reasons..

new place, homesick, long holidays & etc.

so this week i took things a bit lay back..

but next weeks are going to be difference..

maybe i'm going to be as strict as an army personnel.. huhu who knows..

sibu - they called this place hong kong..

for its large chinese population..

i went here with ustad zul for his car service..

been to masjid an-nur, wisma sanyan, taman harmoni and etc.

in front of wisma sanyan there was a military exhibition, involving kor risik, rangers, wataniah, bomba and 4th armour.

being at 4th armour kiosk reminded me of 3rd armour sg petani..

where soksek military cadets were trained under them..

climbing up sibmas reminded me of my cadet days..

but now where have all the bootbois gone? huhu

talking about boots..

i bought a pair of football boots to get back into actions..

the teachers in bungin enjoyed football, with frequent friendly matches..

will i ever turn on the pippo inzaghi in me back? haha

we'll see in coming weeks..

for now on i stayed with ustad zul, and maybe i'll move to other house after eid..

and i'm planning on getting my own astro set.. so i wont miss football huhu

like tonight i miss community shield.. MU vs chelsea..

hmm.. what else?

i miss my night out for football, family, buttercup, home, penang, gurney, queensbay and the list goes on.. :(

top 5 - what i did before sarawak

#1 - a visit to putrajaya

putrajaya is huge.. this was my first time here..
i went there wit ammar looking for parcel E
and our planned turned out succesfully..
with some guidance from syam and the map..
we did real cool in jat's detomasso..
two guys in a deto wandering around putrajaya..
what else is cooler? haha

#2 - lil reunion with soksek collegues

went to sunway pyramid..
met paid, jat n syam..
talked about our past..
talked about our present..
owh how we live in a fastlane..
our soksek time went away just like lightning..
now all are working class heroes.. building the nation huhu

#3 - jam with the veera

its been nearly 18 months since my last jamm session with the veera..
sarang bulan is now improved.. with help from kanain of haidar's people..
jat is now a better guitarist.. salute
and the veere sounds furking awesome..

#4 - round round

spent my days in kota damansara.. round2 here..
been to jalan TAR after the anti-ISA demo hehe
cool..real cool.. at 7pm u can still feel the acid in your eyes..
been to dataran merdeka.. kill some time
been to morib.. this place is so so
indah khabar..

#5 - last call to borneo

the future teachers attacked empress hotel sepang on 2nd of august
ijat my roomate in uum visited us..
and this was our last gathering before borneo..
here they announced our school..
and the next day, off we go..
sad but thrilling.. huhu

i woke up today to buttercup's call telling that we could check our posting..
and i check my hp and there's a message from kana..
he got sarawak.. haha padan..
so i called KPM.. i got there either.. so, nama berita to everyone..
sadly buttercup got kelantan and its far from sarawak..
but hey kelantan is good too, rite weng?
hmm.. so today, i informed some of my comrades and most of them wish me luck..
it is a mixed feelings blues here..

happy for soon to be called a working class man..
fear for being away from family, buttercup, comrades and penang..
joy for the money that i'm going to make, haha..

its complicated, maybe its like a kid going for year 1..
its a really huge world out there.. many to discover..
many may take me down.. but i've got mission to accomplish..
i'll be there with agendas.. for myself, family and nation of coz..
i am a bit curious of what the coming years will become..

my dad reminded me of being able to make something out of my profession..
maybe its too early, but a father never give an advice too early for his child..
his words must be based on something.. something that he gain from experiences..
and i believe the very first moment you walk in a profession..

DPM announced that science & maths will be back in BM effective 2012
i felt that it is a wise decision that the DPM considered people's and academic opinions on this issue..
during my practicum, i've written on this topic in my journal..
here is the excerpt..

I had some discussion regarding this issue with some of the teachers. Most of them were uneasy with PPSMI. Some said that it was ad-hoc in implementation and some argued that PPSMI killed students’ interest in Mathematics and Science. Some even said that it killed students’ interest in English either, as students always associate the difficulties of Mathematics and Science to the more fun English learning.

When I talked to some of my friends, they said that my students were far better compared to their students in Batu Feringghi or Batu Maung who hardly understand English. Usually Malay and some Indian students would find it very difficult.

Besides the resistance and confrontation about PPSMI, they were also some that thought PPSMI was a platform for a better education in Malaysia. This followed by the hype that PPSMI will prepare students for a globalised world. Some just laughed off this issue and said that it was another chapter of Malaysian political satire.

Put aside the debate on whether it was political or survival of the language, I viewed this issue as an impromptu action of the ministry. If the ministry wanted the students to be ready for the medium change, we need a proper study from universities and experts not solely on a few opinions from politicians. It may take us 20 years to shift medium and it should be started with schools of strong English medium background such as Convents and Methodist schools as the pioneers.

I knew it was not proper to wrote all these issue that was very controversial for years but I believed that as an educator, one should concern and have a firm stand on this matter. My stand is that this programme should be terminated.

well i said maybe thats your first impression..
when i was there 1st time, my impression was..
'call me a freak, i just wanna stay inside my room..'
well this is my top 5 list for yab, not uum.. laluan c only

no.5 - college activities
we frequently had activities such as pesta yab, ceramah agama, gigs apa kejadah ntah, football tournament and nasyid kot.. ntah la, too many activities in yab itself..

no.4 - food consumption
during my time, yab and muamalat served nice food particularly lunch..
all the lauk pauk argghh, cheap, delicious and its a good time to get fat..
hmm, we could also have tong yam in yab (maybe one of the best in uum), pak lang nasi ayam or nasi tomato, western food in muamalat.. owh many others actually.. and not forgetting cucuk-cucuk francaise.. i thanked buttercup for introducing me to this awesome food..

no.3 - eufa champions league
ucl seasons are like the time for yab residents to turn nocturnals.. in fact all the colleges around uum facing the same transformation.. all the kaki bola will look for hotspots in yab such as bilik jkpp, cafe and tv room..
the scene was nice as all the chop-chop tempat thing will happen..
some people were here because they just love football, some because they cant sleep, some because they wanna sleep in the crowd, some because they want to msg their other half in the crowd and some just wanna play hp games..in the crowd..arrgghh
i still remember this one guy who claim to be arsenal fan tonite and chelsea fan the nite after.. wtf.. i still remember his favourite tag line.. 'macam takder jer'

no.2 - internet
maybe yab had improved on this.. but i'm not sure..
few years back we used the computer lab.. but no youtube, no metacafe and other streaming vdo
another option would be wireless connection in cafe, but with thousands residents..
hmm.. after 12, many would go to the cafe and try to access from it.. then if the uk come..the favourite tagline would be 'saya nak download nota ni, esok ada quiz plak' and etc.
if the connection failed me and my comrades will roam around the campus for hotspots..
felt like commandos trying to access enemy's top secret.. haha padahal nak ushar kord gtar ja..

no.1 - daily dose of football
main bola like everyday and here i got to play with many good players.. as usual i didnt make it to the team haha
but the experience taught me many things about football and became a better player..
i would say it was a good improvement considering the fact that i rarely touch the ball during my secondary..
here i learnt to play as top or back up striker and it made me aware of positioning, offside, how to beat defenders and opportunist goal scoring.. pippo inzaghi style haha..
and i got to play with my roomate ijat, who once played for bintong fc amateur football club in perlis.. and he is the best footballer i ever played with.. he's like kaka of yab haha

to comrades in yab - ijat, yen, jirun, ustad, shah, naz, ijal, foreed, ijan, hawau, azri, mus, mael, faiz, wan yan, mamu, ca'en, zul, awie and the list goes on........

finished most of the things and just waiting for the posting letter to come..
me and my cohort2 friends spent our final day as a teacher trainee in btn
and the atmosphere was full of forgiveness, friendship and auld lang syn..
the boys rushed out to dewan makan and didnt notice about the auld lang syn session..
as usual, people at this point of their life will seek for forgiveness, ask friends to keep in touch and say sorry and kosong-kosong for all the troubles done over thepast six years..
but then.. among the friends there will be a few who couldnt let go.. couldnt forgive and being opportunist enough to do hit and run attack towards their foes..
this story happened to me and buttercup..
while we are defenceless and ready to forgive.. a foe attacked..
and the attack was while we were generous enough to let go the rivalry..
this foe had waited for years to attack and sink our ship..
before btn there was kissm when this foe tried to become friendly.. friendly but firing..
i noted that, buttercup noted that, our comrades noted that..
this foe couldnt make it then, and brought the mission to btn..
got the chance, and fake some forgiveness, and assault buttercup using my name..
fuck that.. the assault was harsh and kurang ajaq..
this foe created an imaginary story and do some kind of character assassination of me..
and we know that easiest way to assassin a character is via sexual elements or something like that..
this foe did that.. pure bitch..
if you are strong enough attack me face to face and dont wait until the last minute for that..
its just that youre scared that we will hit you back..
and now do you think that can sink our ship?
no.. that strengthen our ship and made us more confident in the journey..

that assault is that kentut.. nothing more..

the meaning of kissm

3 days of kissm makes the world goes round..
yeah.. kissm is actually tiring, body and soul
thank god that in the nick of time, i still manage to spend some of my time with buttercup, friends and seniors (matnoq, jehan and aizu)
their presence made quick reference to all the stuff that i learnt during the 3 days, regarding.. confirmation, dg41, interview, forms..bla..bla..
after all, can you imagine listening to the 0800-1000, 1030-1230, 1430-1630 & 2030-2230 lecture sessions daily? this is hard mate.. assignments to be submitted on 16th june, so i gotta work on them during weekends, oh how i'm going to miss sweet sundays and saturday nights..
well just few months back i had this sms conversation with aizu while he was on kissm...

the londeners took on the blue half of merseyside in wembley and of course the atmosphere is so blues..
after saha's 26 second goal, they really played hard to offense everton's half..
drogba pulled one back to level the game..
then in the second half, lampard score the winning goal with a stunning shot past everton's goalie..
that scoreline stayed until the referee blew his whistle..
hmm chelsea should get 3-1 win if the linesman got malouda's shot right

hmm how should i start? erm..
do you remember mu's 3-0 defeat to ac milan in san siro back in 2007?
haha, its the same thing happened in this finale..
or they just couldnt play on italian soil?
barca played well as a team with their usual discipline..

its a dream finale for every football lovers..
one is king of spain another is english royal, from catalan and manchester respectively, now they meet at the eternal city roma..
barca with backbone injury but their attacking parts are lethal while for the devils they are fit all rounders..
the highlight will be ronaldo vs messi, both are starlet of modern football with skills and speed to mess up the field and who wins? we'll see...
its a must watch, so i'm not gonna miss it..
i favour the catalans but with all the hype over english football these days i'll say wake up lads prove me wrong and show some manchunian waves haha

ok, what happen in my place lately?
its the N12 penanti by election and it there's only 1 political party involve plus other three independents.
hmm, if you read mainstream media there's a tough battle out there in penanti, but if you are there yourself...
its deceiving... the atmosphere in penanti is one sided and the colour is light blue..
well, dont wanna talk more about politics here..
but personally, i treat ceramahs like gigs haha

i watched ac milan vs as roma just now and the match was so special for me and all milan fans.
this is the last match that our grande capitano paolo maldini played in front of home fans in san siro.
after 24 years of contribution and 26 trophies he decided to leave football scene as a player.
although the farewell party was disturbed by milan 3-2 defeat and vice-capitano ambrossini's red card incident, milanista will still remember him as the best of footballer, the best of defence and the best of capitano..
i would really love to see him back in san siro as a manager one day, and as rossoneri decided to retire his legendary number 3, i hope that his son will one day wear that number and continue as the club's strenght..

shakhtar managed to win their first ever european title after beating bremen 2-1...
and goal.com got the prediction right, congrats..
neway, the match is quite interesting with both teams engage to their offensive mode, but shakhtar looked to be the extrovert one, like hariz said 'they got brazilian flair'
shakhtar was furious with their good passing and industrious players while bremen looked a bit shaky and dull without their gem diego.
pizarro and ozil tried their best to breakthrough but then shakhtar's back four were fabulous.
after all, fortunes favour the brave and i think shakhtar deserved their win.

i'll be looking forward to goal.com's UCL prediction after this..

its uefa cup finale people!
its going to be shakhtar donetsk vs werder bremen in istanbul..
whoever clinches the trophy will make it to history book as this final is going to be the last uefa cup ever.
next year, its going to be known as europa league with new style and format.
so, there's no reason for me to miss it..

i went out juz now with buttercup and i said i wanna post something on nasi kandax, so here they go..
nasi kandax got its name from a time when nasi [rice] hawkers or vendors would kandar [balance] a pole on the shoulder with two huge containers of rice meals.
for me, nasi kandax is just like hiphop haha, it has old school (traditional and operates around penang) and new school (modern & got branches around Malaysia)

no.5 - kassim mustafa jetty branch, chulia street
this outlet is so famous that it was featured a few times in mami jarum movies.
i heard that the keys of their success are their mixture of spices and the penang's water they used to cook their rice and meals.
strategic spot near tourism attractions give them some advantage to be well known internationally.
must try - nasi & kari ayam (probably the best in georgetown)

no.4 - nasi kandar pelita yellow house branch, sungai dua
the best of the new school haha.. since i spend most of my time watching football here, i think they deserve to be in my list..
the first branch of pelita is in chai leng park, butterworth and they started like 11years ago..
now they are global players having a few branches in mumbai and even featured in a tamil movie a few years back.
the staff here give good services, friendly, and are football lovers

no.3 - nasi kandar line clear, penang road
yeah, line clear macha.. this is where the name came from'
this nasi kandar is a hotspot for those who work around georgetown
very famous and well-known among tourist and a must visit food outlet for them
it is in old school category and serves the customers with street scene of georgetown

no.2 - nasi kandar raffe, pulau tikus
i was introduced to this nasi kandax restaurant by my senior madet and since then i became a regular here
and the best time to be here is at 11 p.m. and above, when this place is so alive..
i prefer to eat here whenever i'm really hungry, huhu
why? because the size of it's ayam goreng, rite after finish eating, you'll feel like sleeping..
